We began as the freelance consultancy of designer-developer Ty Fujimura in Spring 2008. In Fall 2010 Ty teamed up with Nevan Scott and the two have been working together ever since, supported by a network of talented consultants.
Our approach relies on best practices and object oriented principles to keep our sites fast, maintainable, and reliable. We build solid work for the long term.
Prior to founding Cantilever, Ty worked as a marketing consultant with Burning Media Group. Now, he is obsessed with creating and building for the web. He also writes about the intersection of design and technology for the Huffington Post.
Born in Tokyo and raised a New Yorker, Ty has always felt most comfortable in the city. He studied mathematics, business and computer science at NYU.
Nevan cut his teeth at Reason Media Group, leading development for POM Wonderful’s global web presence. Since then, he has been involved in dozens of web projects including a mobile website for BuzzFeed. He gives instruction in web development at Noble Desktop in Soho.
Originally from Austin, Nevan came to the northeast to attend Sarah Lawrence College, where he studied philosophy, theater, dance, and computer science. He has worked in Los Angeles and San Francisco, and now considers New York home.
