The National Children’s Museum provides an onsite experience filled with whimsy, exploration and inclusivity. To create online engagement in support of growth goals, the digital presence needed to capture this experience, too. It also needed a stronger mobile experience, content management, and technical performance.
Through extensive stakeholder interviews and a rigorous discovery phase, Cantilever developed a vision for the new website. Our objective: Create a mobile-first, web-accessible and extensible foundation to enable effective communication with a diverse audience, while providing efficient internal workflows and sound technical performance.
We conducted a full-scale redesign process, visually integrating the museum’s whimsical, inspirational qualities to seamlessly transition visitors from online exploration to the in-person experience. We reorganized the site and improved wayfinding, ensuring intuitive pathways to key interactions, including ticket, membership, and event sales.
Cantilever moved the site to a modern technical stack assembled to improve performance, security, and scalability. This also provided a simplified and efficient content management process, ensuring content could be easily repurposed without ongoing developer support.
